I am married to my beautiful wife of 18 years and we have raised 2 amazing kids.
I had ulcerative colitis for over 10 years and now have my large bowel removed. I have a stoma bag now and await surgery for a permanent stoma. We have taken on, as a family, living on a gluten-free diet and that is the best decision for me as it has made me feel more healthy emotionally and the much needed weight gain is happening.
I am a big sports fan and coach my son and daughters’ teams. I also like to have a nice beer every niw and then. Now that I am gluten-free it has been a chore to find gluten-free beers. But that is a topic fir a future blog.
I have had hospital stays 6 times in the last year and a half. Trust me, it does get better. My last hospital visit will be to remove an infection and administer a permanent stoma bag as my wife and I debated the J Pouch surgery vs. a permanent stoma bag. I have talked to many doctors and nutritionists and hopefully this blog will help someone.!
